Generate a complete favicon and icon set

Add one JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, or SVG image to generate browser favicons, an Apple Touch Icon, and Android icon sizes. All processing happens locally in your browser.

How to use

  1. Add a source image. A centered logo or symbol with little unnecessary margin usually works best.
  2. Choose Center crop or Add padding.
  3. Keep the background transparent or choose a background color.
  4. Review previews from 16 px through 512 px.
  5. Download individual files or save the complete set as a ZIP archive.
  6. Copy the generated HTML tags into the head element of your website.

Generated files

favicon.ico contains 16×16, 32×32, and 48×48 icons. The tool also creates favicon-32x32.png, apple-touch-icon.png (180×180), android-chrome-192x192.png, and android-chrome-512x512.png. favicon.svg is added only when the source file is SVG.

SVG input and favicon.svg

With SVG input, favicon.svg stays vector-based and the same SVG is rasterized for ICO and PNG outputs. JPG, PNG, and WebP inputs are not automatically vectorized and do not produce favicon.svg.

The generated favicon.svg removes scripts, external references, foreignObject, and other unsafe content that is unnecessary for a favicon. Some complex SVG styling may change after sanitization.

FAQ

What is a favicon?

A favicon is the small site icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks, history, and other browser UI.

Which input formats are supported?

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and SVG are supported. Raster images are not automatically traced or converted into vector artwork.

Does the source image need to be square?

No. You can center-crop it to a square or add padding so the complete image remains visible.

Which sizes are stored in favicon.ico?

The ICO file contains 16×16, 32×32, and 48×48 icons.

When is favicon.svg generated?

Only when the source file is SVG. The tool does not create a wrapper SVG around PNG, JPG, or WebP images.

Can the background stay transparent?

Yes. Transparent is the default. Disable it when you want to choose a solid background color.

What is an Apple Touch Icon?

It is an icon used when a website is added to the Home Screen on iPhone or iPad and in some other Apple UI. This tool creates a 180×180 PNG.

How do I use the 192×192 and 512×512 Android icons?

They can be referenced from the icons array in a Web App Manifest. This tool generates the image files but does not generate the manifest itself.

Where should I put the generated files?

They are commonly placed at the public root of your website, with the generated link tags added to the head element. With a framework, use its public/static asset directory as appropriate.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Loading, SVG inspection, resizing, and ICO, PNG, SVG, and ZIP generation all happen locally in your browser.
